by John on Jan.07, 2009, under Site Issues
I am working on redesigning the blog and playing with some new themes.
Please bear with me if things get a little funky or don’t work right.
The big blog move is finally done
by admin on Dec.24, 2008, under Christmas, Hosting, Server, Site Issues, blog, blogging, web host
Okay, so it took me over a month, but I finally got the bog moved to new hosting. Unfortunately it also required a new domain.
The good news is I had a back up of the site and database from the old web host and getting moved was easier than I thought it would be. Just uploaded, restored databse, made a few database tweaks, upgraded Wordpress, and here we are.
Now that things are back up and running again, I do intend to post more regularly.
Oh, and for those folks that read the tech news blog I used to have going. Fear not, that will be returning as well. I am uploading the files tonight (it is going to take a while, there are a lot of them). And hope to get the database restored and tweaked over the holiday break.
More to come….
Wordpress Is So Easy To Use
by John on Oct.13, 2007, under Hosting, blog, blogging
I had a Wordpress blog for a few years before giving up my hosting and going with services like Vox, etc.. And I honestly forgot how easy to use Wordpress is. I had this blog setup in less than a few hours and that includes uploading everything themes, plugins, and importing posts from my old blog. It feels good to be back on a blog that I control 100%. Now if the other sites I am trying to get up and running where going as smoothly. It’s not so much the matter of the setup, it’s getting the files uploaded via ftp. For some reason the one site I am uploading to is taking forever and no one, not even my host can explain to me why.
Moving in and setting up
by John on Oct.10, 2007, under Moving
Well I had been talking about it for a while and I finally went ahead and got some web hosting setup and created a wordpress blog. I’ve spent a little while moving over posts and setting up some plug ins. I’ll be tweaking the site more in the days to come. Just feels good to have the big hurdle of actually getting things up and running over with.
